Castle Towers from Gentian # 212

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1997.08.15
Vantage Point: From ridge near Gentian Pk

Caption: Castle Towers north (northwest) face and the Castle Towers Glacier are easily seen in this photo. The west ridge of CT is the right skyline and Polemonium is the bump at lower right. The highest summit of CT is the middle of the three summits visible. There is a more nicely scanned version of this photo in Alpine Select.

PhotoDescr: When descending from CT back to Gentian Pass one can contour through the CT-Polemonium notch and make a quick glissade down the snowslopes on Polemonium's north side (below P's summit in the photo). This avoids the loose rock on the south side of Polemonium.

This picture was taken in the afternoon of a 3-day trip to climb CT while Mike Buda and I were sitting around on Gentian Peak waiting for Gunnar, Lynn, Mike Holmes and Isabel to show up - they had the dinner. We did not encounter them until the following morning :(
