Assembly Hall Peak - NE face # 19191

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2020.05.25
Vantage Point: From the San Rafael River, looking SW

Caption: Sheer NE wall of Assembly Hall Peak.

PhotoDescr: Taken during a two week road trip to Utah from Washington state. Our first morning on the Colorado Plateau was spent at the San Rafael River, and I got up early to see the sun on the nearby buttes. While Assembly Hall Peak is diminutive in comparison to Window Blind Peak, the cliffs visible here are still 1000 ft high, from the top down to the shadow. With the morning light it was easy to pick out the different rock layers. The butte is easily visible by the formal campground and road near the San Rafael Bridge.

The silhouetted cottonwood in the foreground sits right beside the San Rafael River in a rather verdant area in the middle of the desert.
