Ochre Mountain from Tuber Hill # 18708

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2019.08.06
Vantage Point: From the summit of Tuber Hill, looking south

Caption: The broad, semi-glaciated basin on the north side of Ochre Mountain. The higher, glaciated peaks beyond are on the other side of Athelney Pass and upper Salal Creek.

PhotoDescr: Taken on the third day of a 6 day trip to the Slim Creek Headwaters. From the summit of Tuber Hill we had good views south across the Bridge River to the peaks around Athelney Pass. It was interesting to see the contrast of the more gentle glaciers on Ochre with the more heavily crevassed ones one more valley over. From here it appears there are some nice meadows in the basin below and to the right of the Ochre summit. The creek visible here is unnamed and flows down into the Bridge River.

I was surprised when inspecting this photo that Overseer Mountain was visible, as a rather impressive spire in the far-right background. It is apparently only ~42 km away, though obviously a much longer distance by land.

I summited Ochre Mountain during a trip to the Athelney Pass area in similarly-perfect weather in 2010.
