Gap Mountain South Face # 18660

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2019.07.09
Vantage Point: The col south of Gap Mountain

Caption: The south face of Gap Mountain from near the south col. The scramble route is on the other side of the mountain. I was off route here, and should have ascended the steep grassy slopes below near the sheer face visible in the photo.

PhotoDescr: Gap Mountain is a terrific, quick mountain to climb in the Highwood Pass area. Once on top of the col in the photo, swing around the back side and find a class 3 route up to the airy summit ridge.

I personally find the scrambling instructions in Kane's books confusing, so I simply followed my nose up the mountain to the summit.

This is a mountain you will have all to yourself. A rarity in the Highwood Pass area where a paved road climbs to 7200'.
