Ring Mountain from the South # 18306

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2018.10.21
Vantage Point: From northeast slopes of Detective peak

Caption: The photo shows Ring mountain and it's northeast pass. The easiest climbing route involves swinging across the south face to get into the notch in the center of the peak.

PhotoDescr: Ring mountain is a deceptive peak. Despite the smooth scree slope coming up from the northeast pass (right), you get stopped at the very top. Instead, you must head west across the south pass, and reach the great south central gulley, as shown in the photo. From Ring Lake, you would go west to the low pass between Ring and Police peak, at 50.214,-123.295 and only then start to climb into the gap. This is well below the distinct black hoodoos shown in the photo.
