Vantage Point: Tim Jones Peak

Caption: Crown Group as seen from Mt. Seymour

PhotoDescr: On 2018 Feb-12 two of us finally climbed the last peak in the Hanes Valley Group (Crown, The Camel, Spindle, Crown N1, Forks and Goat). We climbed Spindle Couloir (yellow line) in superb conditions (-4C, hard steep snow, icy). The exit section was the steepest, guarded by a moat just below. Unfortunately, the partner slipped on descend, tumbling 213 meters down the couloir. 17 hours on the snow followed by the SPOT-activated NSR long line rescue next morning and 8 days in VGH after. She was wearing a helmet which was destroyed in the fall but didn't crack and did the job. After two surgeries in VGH she is expected to fully recover.
