Caption: Summit of Whitman Crest, at center. K Spire is the sharp point along the ridge descending from upper right to center.

PhotoDescr: Taken on an Indian Summer day trip to the Sunrise area of Mount Rainier. Whitman Crest is a high point along the crest of the Fryingpan Glacier, spread horizontally here. It is fairly prominent in appearance from the southeast, above the Ohanapecosh Glaciers.

From this side there is an interesting hydrologic feature, the creek carving out a canyon on its way into the messy debris covered reaches of the Emmons Glacier, at bottom.
