Big Walls of Changping Valley (Sichuan, China) # 17922

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2017.10.17
Vantage Point: Balang Pass

Caption: Big Walls of Changping Valley (长坪沟)

PhotoDescr: This area in Sichuan province of China receives very little traffic from Western alpine climbers (it probably sees only one party in two-three years). Fred Beckey did visit it in October 2013 with the group of Americans attempting the big wall of Pomiu Feng (5,413m). Beckey was 90 years old at the time and as such received some media attention. It is not known whether the expedition succeeded.

Most of the peaks here have no names (official or unofficial), even among locals. Exceptions are few: Five Colors Peak (on left) and Pomiu Feng (on right) in this photo, that was taken from Balang pass when two of us went to acclimatization climb (naturally, another unnamed peak).
