Four Sisters (China) # 17918

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2017.10.17
Vantage Point: Balang tunnel viewpoint

Caption: Mount Siguniang, Sichuan, China

PhotoDescr: The weather was perfect for climbing DaFeng (5,025m), but we decided to spend another (second) day for acclimatizing. I still was working on the plan, when partner came and said there was a local available to drive us to BaLang pass, which is itself located at the altitude 4,481m (higher than Mt. Whitney, CA - the highest point in contiguous US). It took us 10 minutes to pack and after the breakfast (provided by the same local) we were on our way. Just before the BaLang tunnel (impressive project), there is now a view point where this photo was taken from. Clear skies is rare for SiGuNiang area, and that's what we had - even almost always cloudy top of YaoMei (6,250m) was clear. All four "sisters" are visible: from right to left: Dafeng, Erfeng, Sanfeng and Yaomei. The driver was impressively punctual - after climbing Balang South (4,714m) the car was waiting to take us back to RiLong.
