The Nipple, Laughlan, Laughlan S1 and Schist Cap from Kootomin # 17513

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2016.09.30
Vantage Point: From the summit area of Kootomin Peak

Caption: Ed K. and an eastern view towards The Nipple, Laughlan, Laughlan S1 and Schist Cap.

PhotoDescr: Ed and I drove up Kookipi Creek FSR to km 8.8 with a plan to follow logging roads up the west side of Kootomin Peak. Active logging just up that road stopped that but we were able to walk a little ways (nearly a km) to just before the loggers and head up a reasonably open cutblock to reach the forest which was a little bushy at times.

Further up we skirted a fresh cutblock and continued up into the sub-alpine which featured a lot of bluffs but a route always presented itself. Beyond that we had a boulder field then we hit the open northwest ridge and reached the summit.

After over an hour on top we headed south along the ridge for a short while then dropped down into a large bowl following a boulder field down into forest and to upper new spur roads. Logging had ceased for the day by now as we walked back to the vehicle and cold beers.
