Camchin Peak (Upper Spuzzum Creek Valley) # 16619

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.

Vantage Point: From the eastern side of Camchin's south ridge.

Caption: Approaching the south ridge of Camchin with the peak at right.

PhotoDescr: After reading a road bulletin on Spuzzum Creek FSR I studied some maps with the Camchin/Skuppah area peaking my interest. Google Satellite Maps are way out of date as the 5km of logging road I hiked was heavily alder infested unlike what the map showed. Some respite on open upper sections of the road but things were still pretty bushy through the cutblock and up into mature forest.

Further up as I neared the south ridge of Camchin things improved and the views opened up. Once on the ridge it was a nice approach to the base of the peak but there was still some krummholz, cliff bands and occasional steep snow to keep me on my toes. The broad summit area features a large ancient cairn and good views all round including Breakenridge and Traverse.
