Cog Peak and A Side Valley of Scudamore Creek # 15984

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2013.09.26
Vantage Point: From open slopes below the southeast ridge of Silent Hub.

Caption: Cog Peak on the left, Scudamore Peak in the distance at centre right with the valley below feeding into the Scudamore Creek Drainage.

PhotoDescr: I hiked into Hidden (Pushki) Lake from Van Horlick Road and onwards to above the pass between Silent Hub and Tandem Peak (also the Stein Valley Heritage Park boundry). Traversing slopes for a while I gained the southeast ridge of Silent Hub to approach the short northern ridge of Cog (left side of the peak in this shot).

Bypassing a few gendarmes as I neared Cog's north ridge it was then a short scramble on boulders which was made a little tricky with some snow cover. There was a well built cairn on the summit with one entry from 1973.

I returned by dropping lower into the valley and side-hilling again. It may be easier to do the extra elevation and follow the ridge to/from the SH/Tandem Pass area as the traversing did get a bit tedious but I was breaking in a new pair of boots.
