Downton Peak and The Upper Melvin Creek Valley # 15955

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2013.09.19
Vantage Point: From a near 2400m bump on the Elliott/Melvin Divide

Caption: A northern view from a minor summit 1km southeast of Elliott Peak. Melvin Lake below with some of the bigger mountains of The Downton area in the distance (Nraiteskel, Seton, Melvin and Melvin SW2). Downton Peak is centre left and Mount Luke is the pointy peak far right.

PhotoDescr: I drove the Haylmore Creek FSR to the first landslide (about 14km from the D'Arcy Road) then biked from there into the Barkley Valley/Elliott Creek area to just past the cabin. Hiking the rest of the way to The Twin Lakes area I ascended Elliott Peak then continued southeast along the divide hitting up a couple of sub 2400m summits before descending into the Upper Elliott Creek Valley.

Steep but mostly open (lots of marmots) with some dense forest near the bottom I popped out on the old ATV trail and followed it back to the main trail then down to my bike and had a fast and fun ride back out.
