Whistler Mountain from Cutthroat Peak # 15944

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2013.09.14
Vantage Point: From midway up the south buttress of Cutthroat Peak

Caption: Northeast side of Whistler Mountain

PhotoDescr: I had climbed Whistler Mountain a couple of days earlier from the opposite side. There is a prominent orange dike on the NE side that crosses the north ridge of Whistler just below the summit blocks. The dike continues all the way through to the other side of the mountain. It was this dike that I used for the ascent.

The whole region is shot through with pink granite dikes. They appear to be associated with the orogeny of the Golden Horn batholith. Where the granite is steep enough there is good climbing.
