Mount Lockwood from Custer Ridge # 15461

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2012.08.03
Vantage Point: From a 2075 m peak on Custer Ridge

Caption: Looking northeast along the ridge that joins Lockwood to Custer Ridge. Unnamed lake below in the upper Klesilkwa River Valley. Payne, Rideout and Silvertip at rear.

PhotoDescr: I'd done Klesilkwa and Thompson on seperate trips but nothing in between on Custer Ridge. Heading up Paleface Creek roads I took the North Paleface Branch to just past the washout (a little beyond the TCT junction).

After bushwhacking through a cut block I gained a rock field which led all the way up to a nice bowl that contained a couple of lakes. Crossing snow and talus I ascended to this peak (bushy near the top). Following the ridge north-northwest I then gained a slightly lower peak (Thompson NW4 in this database). Plenty of good views from both peaks.

After spending an hour up there I descended through an old burn and looped back down to where I'd left the road.
