The True Summit of Mummery South # 15247

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2011.09.12
Vantage Point: Just east of the summit of Mummery South

Caption: The surprisingly rocky final summit of Mummery South

PhotoDescr: I was surprised not only to see a rocky summit for Mummery South rising out of almost unbroken snow, to but find the traverse from the snow to this summit to be quite challenging: the exposure on both sides of the short arete was quite inspiring and the rock itself exceedingly loose, with ice steps interspersed with teetering blocks. The cairn at the summit yielded up a brass register placed by the Hans Gmoser party in 1952.
