Southwestern View from Blowdown Peak # 14696

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2011.03.23
Vantage Point: From the summit area of Blowdown Peak

Caption: The southern ridge of Blowdown Peak leads over a few bumps (including Crabbe Mountain) towards Steep Peek. Snowspider is directly behind it centre rear. Darkside Peak is to the right of Steep and Mount Caspar is far right. Asherah Peak is the large mountain rear left. The tracked valley to the left contains a tributary of Blowdown Creek.

PhotoDescr: I walked up the Steep Creek logging road system from Duffey Lake (well used by skiers and sledders) and took Spur 4 to its last corner. From there I mostly followed ski tracks towards Blowdown Peak and ascended the west ridge. Path 51 just north of the ridge has numerous "Gazex" avalanche control canons situated around it.

Views from the summit were pretty good and presented more ideas for future trips. I descended the southern ridge of Blowdown (seen in this picture) and dropped off at the low point to follow an open bowl back down to my ascent track.
