Passing the Sharkfin in Summer # 14160

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2009.08.30
Vantage Point: From the middle of the crevasse band near the Sharkfin

Caption: Roland's route through the crevasse band is a bit of a jumbled mess.

PhotoDescr: Photo taken as part of a VOC summer Neve crossing. I think this might have been the only route which didn't involve ice-climbing, going around the other side of Garibaldi, or down into the Pitt River. It was a pretty low snow year, and the glacier was plenty broken up. We'd already tried finding a way across on the flats as well as the high route. Surprisingly here, right along the seam between them where the glacier was at its messiest, turned out to be the easiest (and perhaps only?) way.
