Wedgemount Glacier Changes from Wedgemount Lake (2010) # 14085

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2010.08.22
Vantage Point: Wedgemount Lake

Caption: A closer view of the Wedgemount Glacier's toe as seen from the second, smaller campsite on Wedgemount Lake. The rock bluff on the right was covered by ice in various Bivouac photos from 1990-2003. (Photo credit: Nora Lenard)

PhotoDescr: I had expected some retreat of the glacier since I last saw it in 2003, but the extent of the glacier melt was still surprising. I'm not a scientist so I won't speculate on whether or not the retreat is being accelerated by climate change. Glaciers aren't static, after all. Still, it's interesting to compare this image against those from Dan Carey (2002) and Gerry Kollmuss (1990) to see how the glacier continues to evolve.
