Elk Stare Down # 1336

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2001/01
Vantage Point: From the west access road to Banff near the railroad tracks

Caption: An Elk.

PhotoDescr: We were heading back from a cross country ski trip up Aurora Creek from the end of the Cross River Forest Service Road near the Baymag mine up the Settlers Road. We decided to stop in at Banff and saw some elk hanging out along the side of the road. This one was not startled by the people at all, and seemed to stare me down as if to say "why are you bothering me?" Snapped the picture and carried on. Incidently, I have seen a photograph of this same elk that is almost exact to this one in some other publication that is mountain related, but I cannot remember which one. There were countless people I am sure who took a picture of this elk.
