Crowsnest Mountain from the Southeast # 13253

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2009.06.12
Vantage Point: Summit of Hillcrest Mountain

Caption: Crowsnest Mountain and the village of Coleman

PhotoDescr: Mardy and I head down to the Crowsnest, Castle-Crown, and Waterton areas in early spring most years; but by '09 we had climbed all the fairly well-known peaks in these areas, and so this year we had little choice but to explore some named, but obscure, peaks and ridges. We trotted up an old logging/exploration track from Byron Creek road to the col west of Hillcrest summit and then followed the west slopes to the apex, where this photo was taken. The interesting thing about this picture is that almost everything except Crowsnest is obscured by a thin haze of forest-fire smoke, only this dominating summit catching the sunlight.
