Sky Pilot Mountain from Gibsons # 12447

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2009.03.09
Vantage Point: Gibsons Landing Dock

Caption: Looking NE from the dock by Molly's Reach, this image captures Gambier Island is in the mid-ground (I don't know the name of the yacht in the foreground). In the distance, from left to right, is snow-laden Goat Ridge, followed by a broad rounded mass known as Mineral Peak and finally snaggle-toothed Sky Pilot Mountain. Unless, I'm mistaken, the nippled summit, at the left distal end of Goat Ridge, is Leading Peak on Anvil Island.

PhotoDescr: Heading back from Powell River in the morning, we found ourselves in a small unexpected snow storm. Thus, the local mountains and hills had a fresh dumping of snow. This may wind up being the last snowfall at sea level for the 2008-2009 Winter Season. After a hearty lunch at the Gumboot Cafe (Roberts Creek), we headed for the ferry. Luckily for us, by the time we reached Gibsons, the sky was clearing up for some great photo opportunities.
