Mount Moffett - South Aspect # 12241

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1995.08.27
Vantage Point: From the air to the south (Courtesy AVO/USGS)

Caption: The south side of Moffett with lush greenery typical of the Aleutian Islands where volcanic activity has not obliterated it. The village Adak is just out of the picture to the right.

PhotoDescr: Believe it or not, there used to be a towrope for skiing on the lower slopes of Moffett, not sure if it was this side though, but most likely as it was quickest access from Adak.

This picture is courtesy of the USGS/Alaska Volcano Observatory, photographer: C. Neal.
