Brachiopod and Anthozoan from Deception Pass # 11733

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2008.08.23
Vantage Point: Deception Pass

Caption: Brachiopod Mountain in shadow and Anthozoan Mountain in sunlight

PhotoDescr: The day after climbing Brachiopod, our group from the Grant MacEwan Mountain Club circled the Skoki area, coming to this view of our previous day's objective.

The scramble route on Brachiopod is reached by a trail on the south side of Baker lake, out of the photo below the peak, and then follows meadows to the base of the scree slopes at the near end (centre of photo). See the trip report for details.

This shot is essentially the same as the one in Alan Kane's Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies that he uses to illustrate the routes on both peaks. The main difference is that the lighting here makes clear the discontinuity between the two. The route line for Anthozoan in Kane flies straight across from the south end of Brachiopod to the north end of Anthozoan, when there is a gap between the two that may make a route further to the west (lower on Brachiopod) preferable.
