Mount Rae - route # 1161

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1997.08.23
Vantage Point: From the summit of Mount Arethusa

Caption: The South West slopes of Mount Rae and the NW end of Ptarmigan Cirque.

PhotoDescr: The scrambling route comes out of the NW end of Ptarmigan cirque up the lengthy slope coming from the bottom to the middle of the picture to reach the South Ridge. It consists entirely of scree but gives one a break on the upper third of the slope where some protruding slabs offer solid rock. Once you top out on the south ridge it is followed to the pinnacle. At the pinnacle you drop onto the NW face to skirt around it, then onto summit. The summit is visible just at the upper right in the shadows.
