Mount Mitchell South Ridge # 11518

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2008.07.06
Vantage Point: From Augerpoint Mountain

Caption: Looking over to the south ridge of Mount Mitchell from the summit of Augerpoint Mountain

PhotoDescr: This photo was taken from the summit of Augerpoint Mountain on our trip into the area. The south ridge of Mount Mitchell is described in the Culbert Guide as being Class 4. There is not too much mention of the route in Phillip Stone's guide.

To get to the ridge, you can drop off the ridge from Augerpoint Mountain, though this didn't necessarily look trivial.

More commonly now, the peak is ascended from the other side (north or east) via logging roads up the Oyster River.
