Whistlers and Honkers # 11140

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2008.04.05
Vantage Point: From Beauvert Lake shoreline trail by Jasper Park Lodge

Caption: Canada Geese flock around open water on Beauvert Lake, with the Whistlers in the background

PhotoDescr: I may as well admit it: I thought of the title of this photo before I took it.

The peak on the horizon is officially named "The Whistlers" (from the whistling marmots that inhabit it) and is the site of the Jasper Sky Tram. It is an outlier of Indian Ridge, and overlooks the Jasper townsite.

Beauvert Lake is adjacent to Jasper Park Lodge and its golf course. Presumably some kind of waste heat from the lodge accounts for the open water that has attracted these geese.
