Blanshard Needle from Edge # 1112

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2002.01.13
Vantage Point: From south ridge of Edge

Caption: The north side of Blanshard Needle rising out of the mists. Alouette Mtn can be seen as the low ridge on the left. The Fraser Lowlands are spread out behind.

PhotoDescr: Taken from a winter attempt on Edge via the south ridge.

The standard route on Blanshard is behind (out of view) on the south side. The obvious steep snowslopes on the right hand skyline were climbed (in winter) back in the 1920's, an impressive ascent for that era. The true north face remains unclimbed... as does the huge chimney gully facing NE which leads to the col with the false peak or shoulder of Blanshard, which you can't really see in this photo.
