Angel Glacier from Cavell Meadows # 10185

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2007.08.18
Vantage Point: From Cavell Meadows Trail

Caption: Paintbrush, Arnica, and an angel in the mist

PhotoDescr: Although the Cavell Meadows Trail near Mount Edith Cavell is one of the most popular trails in Jasper National Park, I always seemed to be in the area with companions for whom the hike was too short or too long. This time I had a chance to hike it alone, and not concern myself with the desires of others. I arrived at the trailhead at 9 a.m. to find the area covered in low cloud (and the parking lot nearly empty on a summer Saturday).

I went up anyway. The flowers proved to be in full bloom, and although I found myself inside a cloud as I reached the highest viewpoint, there were plenty of things to enjoy and opportunities for photography.

As I descended, the clouds ascended, and I took this shot. On the way up I had met no-one, but on the way down there was a constant stream, and when I reached the parking lot, it was so full someone waited for me to leave so they could park.
