Vantage Point: From meadows above Molar Pass

Caption: Hector's summit can be seen above Molar Glacier on Andromache.

PhotoDescr: Andromache's name is unofficial, but the glacier on the north side of its summit block is officially named the Molar Glacier, even though Molar Mountain is on the other side of Molar Pass.

Molar Pass is a reasonable day hike from the Mosquito Creek bridge on the Icefields Parkway, a total return distance of 21 km.

A group of five from the Grant MacEwan Mountain Club reached this point while hiking the Molar Pass trail on the Sunday of the August Long Weekend. While my companions took a leisurely lunch among the trailside rocks, I roamed the open meadows above the pass for views like this.
