Mount Vaux from the Wapta Highline Trail # 10145

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2007.08.04
Vantage Point: From Wapta Highline Trail

Caption: From the Wapta Highline Trail, Mount Vaux and Mount Hurd can be seen over Burgess Pass.

PhotoDescr: Mount Vaux is the high glaciated peak on the left; the much lower peak on the right is Mount Hurd.

The latitude and longitude of the vantage point for this shot was derived by matching the time of the photo, based on the camera's clock, with the point nearest in time from the track log produced by a Magellan eXplorist 400 GPS receiver, based on atomic clock time signals from the Global Positioning System satellites. Accuracy depends on both GPS accuracy and synchronization of the two clocks.

A group of five from the Grant MacEwan Mountain Club reached this point while hiking the Emerald Triangle, a 20-km jaunt from Emerald Lake to Yoho Pass (sidetrip to Yoho Lake) to Burgess Pass and back to Emerald Lake on the Saturday of the August Long Weekend.
