Date: 2007.06.09
Vantage Point: From lower slopes of Bogart Tower

Caption: The second of the three Memorial Lakes is mostly ice-covered in early June 2007.

PhotoDescr: On the first day of the Grant MacEwan Mountain Club's annual summer kickoff group camp, the Owl Prowl and Howl, I led a group along the Memorial Lakes Trail in the North Ribbon Creek valley. We were unable to reach the highest Memorial Lake because the trail was completely covered in snow, but we did get this view of the second lake.

The Memorial Lakes are named in commemoration of 13 people who died in June 1986 when two search planes crashed in a search for an earlier crash with two victims. The first plane was eventually located on the south end of Mount Kidd. There were no survivors of any of the crashes.
