Bow Pass is at the head of the Bow River on the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93 in Alberta). To the south, the pass is drained by the Bow River, which flows through Lake Louise, Banff and Calgary, and eventually joins with the Oldman River to form the South Saskatchewan River. To the north, a small creek goes into Peyto Lake, and from there down the Mistaya River which meets the North Saskatchewan River at Saskatchewan River Crossing.
The Bow Pass area is a popular winter ski objective: the Wapta Icefield can be accessed by ski-ing across Bow Lake.
