Aptly named, this pass is located at the very head of the Fraser River southeast of Yellowhead Pass. The southward creek here is Hugh Allan Creek, which flows into Kinbasket Lake (Columbia River - Mica Dam Reservoir). The mountains just east of the pass form the divide between the Pacific drainage and that of Alberta's Whirlpool River.
There are two pass summits separated by a hillock 30-50m higher (depending from which summit you're reckoning). The southwestern of the apair is 2030m at 52:30:51-118:18:25. A second pass between the same two drainages exists west about 5.4km at 52:31:52-118:22:28 but is ~2045m
