A divide between Cameron Creek on the E and Akamina Creek on the W. Cameron Creek flows NE into Waterton Lake, which drains into the Waterton River, then the Oldman River, then the Bow River, then the South Saskathchewan River. Akamina Creek flows NW into Kishinena Creek which flows SE into the Flathead River. FtrHistory: Named in 1861 and this pass is the souternmost route across the Continental Divide in the Canadian Rockies as it is just N of the Canada US border.

"Akamina" is a First Nations word meaning "high bench land". There are numerous rock benches around the summit area of the pass.
