Culebra Peak - South Aspect
This peak is #43 on the Height List for Colorado . This peak is #4 in Prominence List for Colorado .Culebra is the southernmost 14'er in Colorado and is ranked 42nd in the state in height but 4th in prominence. It is the only 14'er in the state that lies entirely on private land. Climbing has, at times, been restricted on this peak. Access is from the town of San Luis on Colorado Rt. 159. "Culebra" means "harmless snake" in Spanish.

1. Northwest Ridge Grade II, Class 2. From Taylor Ranch Trailhead (2816m) drive (4WD) or hike to the end of the road - 4 miles (3566m). Cross the creek to the south side, climb southeast up a shallow basin for 1 mile to the NW ridge. Climb ridge southeast and east to false summit at 4249m. Continue southeast for 0.3 miles to the summit.
