Name Notes: Named in 1935 after James Wheeler Davidson who was a world traveller and was part of Peary's 1893 expedition to the N Pole. He was also a member of the Rotary Club.
In November 1934 the Rotary club requested that a peak be named after Wheeler because he was one of the most famous members. This peak was chosen after initially looking along the Icefields Parkway because they wanted a mountain visible from Calgary. Although officially adopted in 1935, it never appeared on a map until local investigation revealed the error to the names board and then it was added to the map.
