This peak is #1 on the Height List for Colorado . This peak is #1 in Prominence List for Colorado .Mount Elbert is the highest peak in Colorado and the second highest in the Lower 48 states after Mount Whitney. It's an easy mountain to climb, the Mount Elbert trail climbs up along the eastern ridge all the way to the summit.

The key saddle is Horsethief pass, which is below the 5360 contour and above 5320', so we interpolate to 5340'.
