Mount Shasta in Early Winter
This peak is #8 on the Height List for California . This peak is #2 in Prominence List for California .Mount Shasta is the second highest of the Cascade Volcanoes. Several glaciers are located high on the mountain. The standard summit route starts from the parking lot at Bunny Flat. A trail leads past a horse camp to a basin called Avalanche Gulch. The route continues through a rock band called Red Banks and up a snow slope known as Misery Hill to the summit plateau. The summit pinnacle is usually climbed from the west.
