This peak is #42 in Prominence List for British Columbia .Shedin Peak is the highest peak in the Atna Range, part of the Skeena Mountains. Shedin Peak stands about 80km north of Hazelton at the head of Rosenthal Creek, a tributary of the Skeena river. The peak has major icefields surrounding it on all sides, extending for 10 kilometers in most directions.

The highest summit of the Atna Range, it is higher than anything in the adjacent Sicintine Range to the east; both these ranges, and the Babine Range, are in the "crook" of the Skeena drainage, i.e. the huge sweep of the Babine-Skeena drainage which does a sharp NW-to-S bend just to the north of Shedin and its Sicintine Range neighbour, Shelagyote. There is nothing higher than Shedin northeastwards far after its saddle just south of Bear Lake; not until beyond Metsantan Pass and Mt. McNamara.
