Carlisle Volcano
This peak is #62 in Prominence List for Alaska .This concentric cone is the higpoint of Carlisle Island, a tiny island in the Aleutian Chain. This active volcano takes up most of the surface area of the island. The last eruption was is August 1987. Altough there are no glaciers, the upper slopes are snow covered for most of the year. Access is by boat from the village of Nikolski on Ummak Island to the east. Pull ashore at the cabin on the southeast side of the island. The summit can easily be climbed from any direction.
