This peak is #65 in Prominence List for Alaska .The Korovin Volcano is the highest point on Atka Island, which is part of the Aleutian Islands. It's located on the northern tip of the island. It's an active volcano that last erupted in 2005. The nearest community is Adak, on Adak Island to the west. The tiny village of Atka is at Nazan Bay to the south. From the village, hike north along the western shore to a creek bed. Follow the creek northeast and then gain the pass west of Mount Kliuchef. Contour along the west side of Mount Kliuchef and make your way to the pass south of the Korovin Volcano. Hike to the top. The steepest part is near the summit.
