This peak is #59 in Prominence List for Alaska .This active stratovolcano is the highest point on Gareloi Island, which is part of the Aleutian Islands. Gareloi makes up the whole land mass of this small island. The eruption was in September 1996. There are two cones on the summit dome. Access is by boat from the village of Adak on Adak Island to the east. There's a cabin on the north slope. The summit can easily be reached from any direction with the most gentle slope on the northwest side.
