Mount Griggs
This peak is #19 in Prominence List for Alaska .This stratovolcano with active steam vents is the highest mountain in Katmai National Park, which is on the Alaska Peninisula across from Kodiak Island. A few glacier tongues remain attached to its flanks. Access is via the ranger station at Brooks Camp. Hike southwest along the gravel road to Wild Creek Overlook, and continue south along Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes and then to Knife Creek. Ascend the west slope to reach the summit.
