FA by John Clarke in 1973 on his first visit to the range. "Hamatsa" is a Heiltsuk word describing a shamanic process of ritual cannibalism. Numerous anthropological texts can be consulted for a more academic decription. No doubt more than one storm bound party on the Ha-iltzuk Icefield has contemplated the possibility of a bit of cannibalism.
