This peak is #27 on the Height List for Alberta . This peak is #48 on the Height List for British Columbia .The southernmost of the 5 peaks of Mount Lyell, and sometimes known as "L5". Lyell is in Banff park, on the continental divide, at the head of Arctomys Creek. A subpeak of Mount Lyell, Christian is on the Continental Divide, and is often considered a separate peak for the purpose of peakbaggers' lists, particularly the list of Canadian Rockies peaks over 11,000 feet.

Name Notes: Sydney Vallance named this peak after Christian Hasler jr. in 1972. Before that, it was just known as Lyell 5. Christian Hasler jr. was one of the group of swiss guides employed by the CPR at Glacier house (Rogers Pass), starting in 1912. He worked there until it was closed in 1926. Originally the Canadian Pacific railway went over Rogers Pass, and was subject to many avalanches. This lead to the development of the Connaught tunnel under the pass. It went into operation in December 1916. It was 8 km long. Although Glacier house was no longer right on the railway it still operated for another 10 years. In 1939, the CPR official photographer "Nicholas Morant and Hasler were up at Sherbrooke Lake and were attacked by a grizzly, and Hasler was seriously injured. Note that this is not the Hasler who accompanied James Outram on the first ascent of Assiniboine - that was Christian Hasler Sr. Note also that Christian peak was not named after Christian Kauffmann.
