Mt. Work is part of the Gowlland Range, which is the highland area between the Pat Bay Highway and Saanich Inlet, north of Hwy 1 on the outskirts of Victoria. Much of this range has been set aside as a Regional Park and has a lot of good short-distance hiking. Scafe Hill is a low forehill near the head of Craigflower Creek, just east of the Millstream; the last knoll before the relatively mountainous slopes of Work and the Gowlland Range break into the more rolling regular hill-country of the Victoria area.

Name Notes: The name is pronounced as in "wark", not as in "to work". The namesake was John Wark, an HBC employee in colonial days whose name was mis-recorded as "Work" by local officials, but he decided to keep that spelling.
