Robert Carson was one of the earliest ranchers in this area; his Diamond 'S' ranch was one of the largest 19th Century holdings and took in the broad benchland west of here, as well as some of the lower benchlands around Pavilion and across the Fraser. The Diamond 'S' was also known as "Carson's Kingdom". Originally from the US, like many early settlers in central BC, his story was adapted for the movie "Spencer's Mountain", though the ranch was relocated by Hollywood to one of the US Mountain States (Colorado, I think).
