|Signal Mountain is the northwestern end of the Maligne Range, a low peak adjacent to the much more noticeable Mount Tekarra.|
Name Notes: A North-West Company post called Old Fort once stood beside the Athabasca River below the ridge of Signal Mountain. Signal fires were sometimes built on the ridge, giving the mountain its name. In later times, a fire lookout was built high on the ridge, reinforcing the name. The fire road to access the lookout still exists, now as a hiking and mountain-bike trail that forms the northwest end of the Jasper Skyline Trail. At the upper end of the 8.3 km fire road is Signal Mountain campground.
