Skayuk Peak - Northwest Side
Skayuk Peak is located on the west side of the upper Stave River, at the end of the east ridge of Old Pierre Mountain.
Access is by boat to the head of Pitt Lake, then by logging roads along Corbold Creek. Cross the pass west of Remote Peak and then head north to col between Old Pierre Mountain and Skayuk Peak. Follow the easy west ridge to the summit.

Name Notes: The name "Skayuk" appears to be an adaption of the Halqemeylem Sxwoyeqs, sometimes transliterated as Skwayuks or Skayuks, which is the name given to one of the two old village sites on the Stave River delta near the Fraser, whose territory was the valley of the Stave as is often shown on maps of the various subdivisions of the Sto:lo. The name means "everybody died", in obvious reference to the consequences of the epidemics that swept this region in the early 19th Century; the tribe who lived here are extinct.
